Our commitment
Dodds Fencing and Sheds EST 1963 is committed to conducting business responsibly and to respecting the dignity and rights of everyone involved in our operations and supply chains.
This policy is published voluntarily by W G Dodds & Son Limited and sets out the standards we seek to apply in our business and supply chain. It is not presented as a statutory annual statement under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We support the aims of the Act and do not tolerate slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, child labour or human trafficking.
Our business and supply chain
W G Dodds & Son Limited, trading as Dodds Fencing and Sheds EST 1963, supplies fencing, sheds, garden buildings and related products and services. Our supply chain includes timber and wood products, concrete products, metalwork, fixings, treatments, garden products, transport and business services.
We recognise that modern-slavery risks may arise at different stages of international and domestic supply chains. We therefore aim to work with reputable suppliers and contractors who share our commitment to lawful and ethical working practices.
Our standards
We expect our employees, suppliers, contractors and business partners to:
- comply with applicable employment, immigration, health and safety and modern-slavery laws;
- never use forced, bonded, trafficked or child labour;
- ensure that work is freely chosen and that workers may leave employment in accordance with the law;
- provide lawful pay, working hours and working conditions;
- not retain workers’ identity documents or charge improper recruitment fees;
- treat workers fairly and with dignity; and
- raise concerns promptly and cooperate with reasonable enquiries.
How we manage risk
Our proportionate approach includes:
- considering reputation, location, product type and other relevant risks when appointing or reviewing suppliers and contractors;
- making our expectations clear where appropriate;
- remaining alert to unusually low prices, unclear labour arrangements, withheld documents, restricted movement or other warning signs;
- investigating credible concerns and asking suppliers or contractors for further information where necessary; and
- taking appropriate action where standards are not met, which may include requiring corrective action, suspending work or ending a business relationship.
We seek continuous, proportionate improvement and will develop our checks as our business and supply chain change.
Our employees
We aim to recruit fairly, confirm the right to work in the UK where required, provide lawful terms and conditions and maintain a safe working environment. Employees are expected to follow this policy and report any concern. No one should suffer retaliation for raising a genuine concern in good faith.
