A practical fencing upgrade in Redcar has given one household a stronger boundary and easier access for a mobility scooter.

The customer was preparing to have a resin driveway installed and wanted the fencing completed first. Their existing gate position was not suitable for the access they needed, so the approved installer planned the new boundary around the way the garden and drive would actually be used.

Concrete posts, gravel boards and closeboard panels

The new fence uses concrete posts with 12-inch concrete gravel boards and closeboard panels supplied and delivered by Dodds Fencing & Sheds. This combination keeps the timber panels raised away from wet ground and gives the fence a substantial, durable structure.

Closeboard fencing is a strong choice for exposed gardens and busy family homes. Individual vertical boards create a solid screen, while concrete posts and gravel boards help protect the lower section from moisture and everyday knocks.

Moving the gate for better access

The gate was repositioned to create more convenient access for a mobility scooter. Thinking about gate width, approach angle and the route between the pavement, drive and garden before installation can make a major difference to day-to-day use.

If a new driveway, patio or landscaping project is planned, it is often sensible to complete the fencing first. This lets the installer set the posts and gate position before the finished surface is laid.
